Who does what.
Duke Energy serves most homes around Lake Norman and Charlotte. EnergyUnited, an electric cooperative, serves parts of Iredell County, and the City of Statesville runs its own electric system. Your bill tells you which one is yours, and that’s who to call for an outage or a downed line.
Electrical permits and inspections in Charlotte, Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville go through Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement. In Iredell County, the permit goes through the office that covers your address. Carolina Power Medics handles the permit on work that needs one.
